The only Grandparent I ever knew was my Grandma on my Moms side. There isn't much family around to help take care of her so we had no choice but to put her in a home. She was only there a few months before she passed but fortunatly it was in the same town that I work in so I could see her often. The last couple weeks she was there her mind started slipping. I got calls almost every day "I need you to come help me". I never thought twice about going and now I am glad I did. I would give amything to have her back, but I know she is in a better place.
Do what you can for him as it will mean a lot to him. These times will always be in your memory and you will be glad you did what you could.
