+ We had a Grainbuster on our farm for over 10 years. Finally replaced it witha Gehl Grinder/mixer. We used a 3/4 inch screen tobust up ear corn for corn and cob meal then reground it with some oats and/or spelts along with the concentrates through a 3/8ths screen to make dairy feed. Ground shelled corn and small grains and concentrates through 3/8 screen for hog feed and chicken laying mash. You must use the cyclone/bagger or the dust will drive you out of the place whether you are filling bags or running bulk. You cannot grind anything without some sort of screen in the mill. The Hammer edges and edges of the screen holes will wear "roundish" after usage and you have to rotate the hammers and have the screen reverse rolled. The pulley on our Grainbuster was small in diameter like the one illustrated to get the 2400 RPM rotor speed the mill required. A good H Farmall had enough power to run our 10 inch Grainbuster hammermill, but the bigger Gehl outfit needed our Super MTA or 560 to adequately power it.
