Not a plow,a feild cultivator..crank set depth,springs are to let it give and ride up if you hit roots or rocks. trip rope type .tractor pull not horse pull, horse pull would have seat and levers.keep points good on it,if they get too worn you will start wearing off your shanks. nice to have I would like to have one. lots of folks use them for deep chiseling ground before planting here. made originally for breaking up soil compaction in feilds such as hay feilds and hardpan in crop feilds,and allowing fertilizer and water to penetrate farther into soil.many different names from different companies ..tillers,chisels,feild cultivators,,,not really a subsoiler it doesnt lift and break up the ground from underneath like a true subsoiler does.more or less like a row cultivator that runs deeper.very good for breaking up hardpan.
