My college son who has no job or income will be home for spring break. He's planning to drive up to a lake in central NY for a few days this weekend. I asked him "what money are you using?" No answer. I'll make sure it's not mine. I have to live like a hermit to keep him and his sister in college, pay a mortgage, support 4 vehicles and keep the lights on not to mention keep warm and fed. Seems to me that if everyone just cooled it for awhile and only spent on what is NEEDED, not what is WANTED Prices would have to settle down as well. Granted gasoline sitting in the station tanks longer that what is normal really won't effect prices in the short term, but profits will begin to suffer and as a general business rule, there's no middle ground, your either making money or loosing money. If I plan out my motoring trip to town so I get the things I NEED on my route to work and back, it costs me about 2 gallons of gas round trip. If I don't plan and have to make a couple trips, well you can see where this is going. If I decide I don't need something, it will sit on the store shelf until somebody else WANTS it. It's a scary day for retailers when people wise up and start buying only what they honestly NEED, and not everything they WANT. I WANT a new truck. In reality I NEED a truck, just not a new one. I'm piecing together a 97' to replace the 89' I'm driving now which don't owe me a nickle. When I'm done I'll have less than 2 payments on a new one invested and I'll have the vehicle I NEED to get back and forth to work and the other things I NEED a vehicle for. The neighbor (who I bought the 89' from 8 years ago) has been thru 2 new trucks that he WANTED. In some ways I feel bad that I'm still driving his old 89' but I paid for what I NEEDED and he's still paying for what he WANTED.
