Im with the allopurinol crowd. It really works if you take it daily. All the home remedies and snake oil in the world may have helped my head but they didnt do anything for stopping the joint damage it was doing. Indomethicin helped me a lot with the pain, but like any other pain killer it just masks the pain it doesnt cure the problem. Plus it was blowing my kidneys.
