Gout is too much uric acid in the blood primarily from red meats, wine, and shell fish. It manifests itself as a build up of crystals in the joints. In my case in the ball of my foot. So painful I couldn't even let the sheets touch it. had to cut the side out of a shoe so I could walk. Docs put me on several meds that had mediocre results. I finally went to a nutritionist that recommended cutting back on the high uric acid foods, duh! i had already done that!, and drink water till your urine is clear. In my case about 2 gallons a day. Cleared it up in about 3 days.
Ever since then I make sure I stay very hydrated and haven't had a problem since.
