I posted pictures awhile back about these old John Deere Implements that I was buying. We finally were able to bring them home on Tuesday. The first two pictures are of the John Deere 730 Listers. The next photo is of the top of the seed box. I think its cool because it has the raised lettering stamped into it. The next picture is of a John Deere Model 40 Front-Mount Row-Crop Cultivator. The next picture is of a John Deere ABG 200 Front-Mount Row-Crop Cultivator. Next is a John Deere Go-Dig Lister Cultivator. The next three are of a John Deere 638 Lister. It's a really cool looking implement. If you have any info on this type of lister, please let me know. Does anyone know what tractor it would have been used behind? How about when it was made? The next picture is of the rear gangs to the ABG 200 Cultivator and one of the lift bars. And finally a International Harvester 2 Bottom plow. I still need to go get the John Deere 594 Hay Rake that was part of the deal. All of this was $500, and then another $20 to have it delivered. The guy I purchased it all from was going to restore it all someday but he figured it was time to sell. He wanted scrap price because if I didn't buy it he was just going to scrap it anyways. It was an easy haul as he lived about 5 miles away and so we put it on the back of his 20 foot gooseneck trailer and he pulled the trailer over with his tractor and then unloaded everything. It took just two trips.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
