The area south and west of where I live is heavily populated by Mennonites. Most of the men use modern farm machinery, and dress like the rest of us. The women don't wear jewelry or makeup, and wear only dresses and skirts. Plus a little doily type head gear.
Some began liberating themselves earlier than others. When I was a kid 50 years ago, there was a Mennonite gal that ran around with us. Naturally her religion and her parents forbid her from wearing shorts. So--she'd put on a pair of short shorts under a skirt and after she was out of her parent's sight the skirt came off. Then before going home, the skirt went back on.
