Last spring we had to find a field tile to hook a new tile up to so I went out there where I thought it should be and walked around with the bent wire. Every place the wire turned I put down a flag. I found the buried phone wire in the road but I knew where it was anyway.
When the backhoe started digging, the place where I thought the tile was at was a no-show but a couple of other places I had marked had tile laterals I didn't know were there.
Tried to find tile with the wire in another field and the wire turned every 60 feet or so in an area I know there wasn't tile. Must have been water veines down there. It was a field that tended to be wet anyway.
If I use two wires they turn in towards each other. If I use one wire it turns outward. Go figure!Jim
