I tried the old mouth/chest compression CPR on a fellow who collapsed in the gas station where I worked part time. I'm sorry to say that he didn't survive, but I felt better knowing that an honest effort was made to help him. I'm glad to see this method being pushed. Folks are naturally fearful of getting up close and personal with a complete stranger. Even with the old CPR training, there's a huge difference in the plastic CPR dummy and the real thing.
