Man, when it comes to adding chemicals to water sources it makes me wince. I'm not a tree hugger but I suspect you'd be amazed at the amount of wildlife that drinks out of your pond at night.
If I did anything I'd try something without adding chemicals to the water.
Interesting advice about the construction of the pond to keep weeds at bay. I'm a couple of years off from building my own fishing pond for my retirement years. Good stuff here!
