Just east of you Allan, in the Sandhills, alot of people hunt coyotes with greyhounds. Once in awhile there will be a hound that takes to chasing cattle rather than coyotes. Alot of the old timers have told me that a sure cure for that is to dump the offending hound out in the middle of a bunch of cows at calving time...the ol' mammas pretty much cure any inclination they might have to chase cattle!
I have a Blue Heeler that helps me do alot of cattle work, both afoot in the corrals and just moving them from place to place. He rides on the back of my 4-wheeler and will jump off to help chasing bulls, yearlings, etc....but when there's cows with baby calves around, he stays glued to the 4-wheeler to where you'd have to pry him off!
