However, if the tractor is in decent shape,the cheapest way to make more power is to buy a used engine from someone else. You did not say what class you intend to pull, going faster costs money, how fast did you want to go? If you are not in a hurry, a good thing to do is subscribe to The Hook magazine and read the classified ads.Buying an engine or complete tractor from where the competion is "tougher" and bringing it home is an excellent way to increase your chances of winning! Price a stock rebuild with a reground camshaft and you will see there is a good chance to purchase what you want cheaper than it can be built.
