My sincere condolences to the family. What a thing to have to live with.
Those things can have life-long effects.
Local contractor and son were working with a boom truck near power lines- son swung the boom into the line, father was electrocuted. Worst of it was, son was the "heir-apparent", and was the only one to carry on the business. Of course, the guilt with how he came into that position just consumed him.
Father and son were very close, and son couldn't get over it- took to drinking, and eventually had to have a liver transplant. His marriage broke up in the process. I see him once in awhile, and it seems like only now, after 30 years, has he finally been able to come to some peace with the situation. One moment of inattention literally wrecked two (three?) lives.
