I don't know much about feeding it dry, but you can feed the wet brewers grains at a much higher rate (even the majority of the daily ration).
I buy it wet from a local microbrewery as they have it available and use it the same way you do, mostly as a supplement. If the weather allows I stretch out feeding as long as possible, but when it's -30F or 100F I run it through the cattle as fast as I can. The maximum I feed is about 30lbs/head/day. Not sure on the wet vs dry conversion there.
Anyway, I get roughly the same feed value from 1 ton of wet brewers grain as I do from a 6ft round bale. With the fuel cost, it would hardly be worth it for me to haul it in at the price I pay for it, but it's the calcium and protein value that makes it worth it (well, at least I think it does :),
