That's a '74 CJ-6. It was a barn find that I got about 5 years ago and has become a family pet. It had been sitting in that barn for about 10 years when I came across it and offered to buy it.
Here's what I found. I had no idea about what a cj-6 was at the time, but it's pretty much a cj-5 with an additional 20" wheel base. It comes in real handy having that extra room in the back. Since we've bought it and gave it allot of TLC it's kept the kids and myself pretty happy. It's hauled out a few deer and allot of wild hogs from our hunts. This weekend was it's first fishing trip though. My girls love to ride on the seats in front but I took them off to add a receiver and bumper rack to the front. I need to get back to the shop and find away to add the seats where I can take them off again easily. Just more stuff to do. The first time I saw it with those seats I thought I was looking at something straight out of the move Hatari!

Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
