When at Farm Credit, had a customer who was a very successful dairy farmer- lotsa cows, lotsa pretty equipment, lotsa money, and one scruffy looking old SAME that spread the manure.
He explained that they bought it 25 years earlier, when they weren't so flush, when they really needed a tractor and it was all they could afford. Tried to trade it in some years later on a new Ford, and dealer wouldn't give them anything on it. So he decided to "run it till it drops". "Didn't even really maintain it for awhile, but it kept plugging away, and I felt a little guilty, so started maintaining it properly. That was 10 years ago, and that thing may outlive me."
All that being said, I have no idea where you would find a SAME part around here- not only is the dealer out of business, now he's dead. But I suppose you could find stuff online.
