OK Guys (and Girls), try this one for size....
Took the head off my 5240 CaseIH last week, had it skimmed and the valves redone (head was warped a fraction and leaking anti freeze). I got the injectors done too - new tips and 3 of the 6 re-shimmed to bring pressures back to spec (for some reason this tractor has CAV injectors not Bosch).
Anyway, put it all back together and now have no fire... rebled everything a few times, no air showing anywhere, and good sized shots of diesel when the injectors are loosened. No fire and no white smoke either...
I DID NOT touch the timing system at all, although we static checked the timing of the pump with a dial gauge (good).
I"ve had the fuel shut off solenoid out and it seems to work ok.
