I always here guys talking about what is the right engine oil to use. My Farmall M was originally lubed with a straight 30W. Back then there were no additives and these tractors have survived many years of running on unadditised oils. I am an STLE (CLS) and I have worked with the production and testing end of oils for more years than I care to mention. Anymore I am really wondering. Yes, we always did performance testing in the lab and one oil always out did another. In the long run though I don"t think that it matters.I have one buddy who only runs an SAE 30 in everything he owns. He uses it in his Honda Civic, an F150 gasoline engine, a Dodge with a Cummins diesel engine, several other gasoline and diesel powered farm tractors, etc. He says all you have to do is keep it changed on a regular basis. Now knowing him I believe he is right, because he never seems to have engine failures. What do you guys think?

Today's Featured Article - Product Review: Black Tire Paint - by Staff. I have been fortunate in that two of my tractors have had rear tires that were in great shape when I bought the tractor. My model "H" even had the old style fronts with plenty of tread. My "L" fronts were mismatched Sears Guardsman snow tires, which I promptly tossed. Well, although these tires were in good shape as far as tread was concerned, they looked real sad. All were flat, but new tubes fixed that. In addition to years and years of scuffing and fading, they had paint splattered on ... [Read Article]
