When I complained that the new L10 Cummins engine in my tractor used oil, the Cummins shop guy showed me the spec in the shop manual, saying that using a qt in 4 hrs was considered normal. Thats 16 hours to the gallon !!!??? I guess my complaining about using a gallon in 40-50 hrs kind of fell on deaf ears. Kind of frustrating when the "OLD" tractor with a 30 year old, 8,000 hr motor still ran 100 hrs before wanting a gallon of oil. I never did add that, as I normally changed it's oil at 100 hrs .
