...just an observation. As you may know, this kind of pressure behavior is very typical of a well-worn engine approaching but not quite yet arrived at the end of its term.

There are plenty of other potential causes; Hal, who knows his business, has given you some common ones, some of which (like worn bearings) might need to be properly attended to before the engine scars the crank or throws a rod.

Are you seeing any other symptoms of wear? A loss of compression? Blow-by? Bearing knock?

If you have no other symptoms, you can try heavier weight oil, Mystery Oil, etc., but most (although not all) people see those as temporary expedients designed to delay the inevitable.

If you have any of the above additional symptoms, you might want to begin to consider your options.

Your mains and rods are where most of your oil pressure is built. It might be time for a rebuild.
