old didn't mention this and I apologize if you already know it, but correct re-installation of an injection pump in a Diesel engine is CRITICAL.Pump placement controls timing in most installations. Rotate the pump too far in one direction and the fuel is squirted in too late for the air in the combustion chamber to be hot enough to fire it. It gets worse. Accidentally go too far in the other direction and you can damamge the crank, rods, bearings, pistons, etc., just as you can on a gasoline engine if the timing is too far advanced. Get it even a little wrong and the tractor will run hot, be hard to start, work poorly under load, etc. etc. So BEFORE REMOVING THE PUMP read and re-read the instructions for re-installing it. Make sure you understand every step and don't remove the pump until you do.
