The crank did not have to be ground again, they polished it instead. After hearing of my oil pressure problem the Machine shop asked for the rods and took a little off the caps and re-borred the rods so they are perfect ID for the bearings. This is much the same way the fix the caps when line boring the block.

Nice pics. Question: Is the piston height from pin to top the same for 3-ring and 4-ring pistons or is the 4-ring piston taller?

Indiana:

The piston height should be the same for 4 ring pistons as three ring pistons. The fourth ring is an additional oil control ring on the piston skirt below the wrist pin.

The last time I looked I could only find flat topped 4 ring pistons. The three ring pistons are available either flat topped or slightly domed. The domed pistons increase power noticably.
