It has obviously been entirely too long since I changed the oil since I had forgotten about the refilling aggravation. I reckon I will just have to add it slow. This time I have a gallon jug of 15W40 so I doubt I can balance it on top of the funnel with any success.

Larry's idea has some merit, I must say. But I think you would have to lean it to the left to keep the oil from coming out the valve cover breather.

As to the street ell on the SOS trans filler hole - already there. Makes that little chore so much easier. It helps that 134 is a little thinner than motor oil. One other trick I learned on this board some years ago was to use the ell and tilt the tractor to the left some to kinda overfill the SOS - keeps fluid in the sump when running up and down steep grades. Must work because I was mowing some pretty good hills earlier this summer and she never acted like she was starving for trans fluid.
