I'll throw this out there also. There are at least some of these tractors with bad SOS trannys. I own one. You might save a few dollars by buying a good runner with a bad tranny and make the swap, or just the engine from one of these tractors. It won't give you a rebuilt engine but it might offer some savings and many years of servicable life and some extra spare parts to boot. If you're buying a block and rebuilding anyway, this might be an option. Either way, good luck.
