series and Lumpy posted that the top link with turning handles is not original. He stated that he has an original and it has no handles- the barrel is knurled for gripping.

These photos probably are'nt close enough, but this one is knurled, no handle either, has a latch on top to lock in your adjustment. I beleive it to be an original ford, but was not sure, as it was a wall hanger for a long time, heck I can't even remember what the thousand series original top links looked like, you don't see a lot of these around, like how it works though, don't really need that handle if kept clean and lubed.

That's an interesting find, don't ever recall seeing one of those gold ones at our place way back when, what is the next step can you salvage the gold paint and leave as is, or can it be documented and reapainted to match, kind of a tough call for one of these I'll bet.

Yours is probably an original Ford top link in reply to Billy NY, 05-20-2008 16:24:20
maybe Lumpy will see this and let us know.

There is not enough of the original gold paint to leave my Gold Demo as is. I will have to repaint it.
