Bill,

I spent all day on the phone with JD and they couldnt come up with any information for me. Do you happen to know the HP requirements for this model of disc?

Look in the parts book at the info for disc blades. You mentioned the number of blades on your machine. The spacing between the blades ( spool length) will be important. I see where the 3000 series had the 8 blades, etc..... the 4000 series listing does not give blade count for the arbor bolt, but gives the disc width. You say its 16'. I would guess from the numbers that you gave that the cutting width in front is 14'. 2 parts that will clue you in to exactly what disc you have ,, will be the spools. 3000 series use W37091 (11#'s), 4000 series use W37072 (18's). I did not find the part detail info for these spools, but by the weights I would guess one is 9" and the other 11",,,, or something like that.

I dont know on HP rating for your disc. If you could find a sales book from that era,, that might help. Another rough guess would be to get a Hp rating on a regular offset with similar working width, blade dia. and spacing. Actual hp will vary due to soil type and condition. HTH
