Hi Rednight
I had a misable time with the clutch in my early 165, I rebuilt the clutch myself when I first brought the tractor home. after a long spell in the workshop for other reasons, I started using the tractor and found the cluch was draging and near impossible to start the pto, also found that pushing the clutch in when the engine was idleing would slow the engine down more so.
after doubting my workmanship I ordered a complete new clutch assembly which arrived quickly. at that point I had to fix the pin through the beam of the front axle, moving it back into position with a lever positioned between the end of pin and the crank shaft I noticed that the end float of the crankshft was excessive! after pulling the engine out and taking the sump off I found the thrust washers in the bottom of the sump.
I hope your story turns out better than this, although everything is back together now with oversize thrust washers and my new clutch works great .
Cheers Arthur from Tassy
