I just rebuilt on of those transmission about a month ago I replaced all of the seals, all the clutch pack disc & divider plates, the return springs and a regulator valve kit those parts cost over $1000.00 US. The idler gears have a 100 needle bearing in them that have to be place in the gears one at a time. The tractor has to be split between the engine and transmission but everything in the shuttle shift section can be replaced without removing the transmission. The idler gears comes out the bottom and the clutch pack unit comes out through the front. If I can be of further assistance on this feel free to email me.

Hi Dean, I thought I had to have the tranny out in one piece.
The tractor has about 5500 - 5800 hours on the meter.

I looked at your website, and see you have a CD for sale, for industrial MF... could that be an idea for me to buy ?

Bill I do have a CD repair disc I sell on the MF Industrial tractors for $35 US it has a section for rebuilding that transmission. If you will send me your email address to daustin62@aol.com I will send you some pictures that will show you what is involved in rebuilding that transmission. You do not have to remove the transmission from the Rear center housing to rebuild it you remove bottom plate then remove the suction tube from the oil distributor housing remove the oil distributor housing from the front of the transmission Pull the idler gear shaft and remove the idler gears you will need something to catch all the needle bearing they will fall out of the gears when you remove the gears then you can remove the complete shaft and the forward and reverse clutch pack as a unit out the hole in the front of the transmission housing. They are not near as hard to rebuild as you would believe. I will talk you through anything you do not understand.

Big Dean is right. It's a major pain to rebuild the shuttle transmission, but it is doable. Those needle-bearings are a real pain - make sure you keep track of ALL of them. I found dealing with all the hydraulic fluid was as big a problem as anything. Also the little scrapper ring at the front of the shaft that fits into the torque converter is very delicate and a pain to get in without breaking. I don't know of any tricks, but I'd surely like to hear one for getting that back in without braking it. Good luck. Jack
