It is not the valve seats that wear out from the lack of lead. Lead in fuel did 2 things it lubed the guides and raised the octain rating of gass. The valve seats burn from the newer fuels and it is recomemed that the guides and seats be replaced with more suitable matieal designed for NO Lead fuels. But like Gerald J said unless you are into the real use of these machines you shouldnt worry.
But there is a way to add lead to the old tractors fuel with little cost and benifits to the tractor. Get a hand full of OO Buck shot or larger and put it in the Gas tank. There will be enough to roll off the shot and chemicaly desolve in the fuel to replace the lost lead. Make sure the shot is much larger than the fuel outlet though so it wont wedge in there and plug the lines. This shot will also keep the bottom free of dirt from dust from settling on the bottom this is the largest cause of rusted bottoms with the addtion of condensation. Add a little wood Alky in the winter to get rid of water.
