I'm gonna drop a bit of a load on ya. Some of your topics need a little bit of a response. 1 You mention that you quoted an online source for information, and it was wrong. When wrong information is handed out, it's a problem for a long time to come. I know you believed what you read, but it was wrong none the less. If the person you answered was like me, he charged right out and tried it, only to find he fried something!?? Dang I hate it when that happens.
As for spending other peoples money,, sometimes it is the best answer. When they wanna dig a shopping mall foundation with an N it's a bad idea, more money is a good idea, when they wanna lift 1000 lb. bales, it's gonna take a bigger tractor. As for read the manuals, or check with the manufacturer,, THE BEST ADVICE I EVER GOT!!!
Helpful comments are not the same as facts. Helpful maybe, but not facts, and not always right. I can't even begin to speak about their moderating practices, nor will I try. I feel competent to speak on this topic, because we've farmed our farm with N's and the like forever, we bought our first N around 1965 I started using it the day it was delivered. Since then I've learned every short cut to keeping one running to get the job done, I've never restored one, probably never will. I've learned how to work on them, and patch them, and baby them through a season... none of that qualifies me to answer most of these questions. Please don't get offended by my remarks, I'm only posting a personal experience. I've charged the thunderstorms, and whacked at trees. LOL
Just ask Dell, Zane, Clause, and a few others that we've lost. My good fortune was that I attacked them with questions, and got shot down with answers! Proveable answers, and they hurt when they sent my logic into flames. I read two other boards as well, and I've got hero's there as well. I've learned alot on all of these boards, All I'm saying is don't get so thick skinned that you fail to absorb the REAL, AND TRUE information that is available. Alot of your advice is top notch, and I'm certainly not about to tell you what, where, or how to post. Here's what I've learned about the learning process on any board of this type. Post what you know,,, but fer cryin out loud, be sure you KNOW WHAT YOU POST. If ya ain't done it or can't prove it, then make sure you know it's so. I refuse to post the advice of people I trust, until I've done it myself. The only reason I decided to post this, is that I took a 2 month break, after getting my feathers ruffled, and I missed alot of good info, that I had to go back to the archives to retrieve. Don't let this happen to you,, LOL Ron

>f the person you answered was like me, he >charged right out and tried it, only to find he >fried something!?? Dang I hate it when that >happens.

Fortunately it wasn't that kind of advice.. it was weights and measures.. and the source i quoted from simple had eroneous info...

>>it is the best answer. When they wanna dig a >shopping mall foundation with an N it's a bad >idea, more money is a good idea, when they wanna >lift 1000 lb. bales, it's gonna take a bigger >tractor

I don't disagree.. but the questions I see. are.. " I've got 10 ac.. 5ac to mow, 2 ac in trees, and 1 ac in lawn, what do i need. to mow with?

By the time the answers are in.. he needs a Nh tc48da with loader and backhoe, etc.. etc.
and is at about 33k including the finish mower and rotary mower. Then they want the guy to get a new 35k$ truck to haul it.. and a 2k$ trailer.. see my point... the guy wanted a 6k$ tractor to mow with.. not something to build his house with... And that same scenereo happens over and over. Sure.. you do get the guys that are looking for comercial machinery.. or who have a project to do.. but heck.. rent a backhoe for a couple hundred bucks and a couple days to pu it your drainage.. don't buy a 4k$ backhoe for one job...

>As for read the manuals, or check with the >manufacturer,, THE BEST ADVICE I EVER GOT!!!

Like us.. the manufacturer is virtuall useless for many situations.. and while some material / info is great to get from the manual.. If A guy asked me how to change the oils in his NAA.. I could say RTFM.. or I could say.. look for these 4 drains and fills.. and by the way.. you might want a copy of the manual.. they are cheap... Both answers pointed the guy in the right direction.. but the second answer got the guys oil changed..today..

>All I'm saying is don't get so thick skinned >that you fail to absorb the REAL, AND TRUE >information that is available. Alot of your >advice is top notch, and I'm certainly not about >to tell you what, where, or how to post.

I've been there.. heck we all have.. all learning is usually that way.. I remember my first post when i found this board.. it was a resistor post.. and boy did I make Dell mad... but I got the right answer from him...
