On a Jubilee, under the seat on the right side is a lever 3 1/2 to 4 inches long. What is it for ? The tractor isn't mine and I don't have access to a manual or pamphlet or I wouldn't be asking.

That short lever on the RIGHT under the seat is used to change the 3 pt hitch from draft control to position control. This helps certain implements, such as land plows, to keep their position in the soil better. (hope I've explained that one right!)On the LEFT side under the seat you should see a longer lever. This controls the PTO/hydraulics. Frontward is off and rearward is on. The 3 pt hitch won't raise or lower unless this is in the ON position. Also on the right should be a flat lever that slides up and down. If you have the PTO/hydraulics lever in the ON position, then the flat lever should raise & lower the 3 pt hitch, assuming it isn't held in one position by stablizer bars. I hope this helps.

Well, you got it sorta right, but on an NAA/Jubilee, the hyrdraulics are live so they work independent of whether or not the PTO is engaged. Nice improvement over the Ns. Live PTO was an option but was an afterthought and used separate hydraulic lines to do it. Later hundred series had live PTO using a two stage clutch affair.

Carl,
Jubilee has live hydraulics...PTO does not have to be engaged for lift to work. Only the 9/2/8n need the PTO lever engaged to power the hydraulic pump.
The draft/position control lever on the right side operates the same for 8N or Jubilee.

Sorry, my mistake in reply to EDDIE8N, 01-02-2005 15:58:37
Well, I'm an 8N owner and have never had the pleasure of riding a Jubilee. I was hoping that the levers were the same I guess. I probably should have waited for someone with Jubilee experience to answer. Well, live and learn. I've found these forums here to be wonderful sources of information. I try to only answer questions that I think I know the answer to, but I goofed on this one! Thanks for the prompt correction, so NukemJack will get the right info.

Carl..... ...even iff'n ya thinks ya missed this one, don't be bummed, ya only missed the "live-hydraulics" part and it isn't a major disaster. Most people don't know the difference eather. Keep on answering ennyways..... ...Dell
