Thanks Marty,

Yes my 2N coil is 12vdc. With the exception of "Dell's secret resistors" & the fact that the original ballast resistor is in use, I have it wired the way you mentioned. Dell had managed to straighten me out that far.

I'll remove the old resistor tomorrow. Now, seeing as how I've got an alt. with only 1 lead (which is attached to the bottom terminal post), won't the alt. field continue to draw off the batt. even when turned off??

Gary..... ...no, in simplistic terms, the 1-wire 12-volt alternator has a 1-way solid-state anti-drain built-in. It just needs about 1800rpms before it starts charging because of the way it uses residual magnetizm to generate the armature magnetic field..... ..Dell
