I will mic the shaft and the inside of the buhings tomorrow, it's 11 pm and I started out early this morning. I ain't being stubborn, just telling it like I sees it. I have overhauled all kinds of mechanical things from Allison 643 automatics to old Rolls-Royce Spey and Dart7/Dart10 turboprop jet engines, not to count the scores of auto/truck engines. I think maybe after all these years these old eyes know "slop" when they see it, or don't see it, which ever the case be. I do have another front dist out there but I think maybe it IS worn. Still I may put this plate in it and see what happens. What do ya think about drillng and tapping the intake for a vacuum test port? There was a time when a vacuum gauge would tell me lots of things. That was a long time ago tho:^)

Ron..... ...check yer distributor cam for uneven wear. The cam has sometimes been reported to be "lopp-sided" and will effect timing which becomes very noticeable at higher rpms. You check the points gap (0.015) every bump..... ..Dell
