2N lift issues

Guys, I know this has probably been answered 1000s of times, and I have read it lost it...I recently went completely through the lift and pump on our 2N, as it was leaking down quickly, and occasionally sticking at the top.
I cleaned and resealed or replaced as needed (all of the valves seemed good, do they were cleaned and replaced.
Now that i have it back together I have 2 issues;
1) It constantly jumps (very choppy) when raising, this was not an issue prior to the rebuild.
2) when I attempt to adjust the sector so that it begins to lower at about 2.5" from the top (as the manual recomends) the lift is VERY slow and seems to jump even more, as I move the sector back so that it begins to lower at around 4" the speed increases, and the chop/jump seems to decrease somewhat(prior to the tear down, it NEVER began to lower near 2.5" while we have had it...more like 4"). What have I done, and what might I do to rectify it? Thanks in advance. Pete

When the lift jumps going up it means one thing. One or more of the four pumps is not pumping.

In my opinion it is a mistake to take the valves out of the pump chambers unless there is already one or more of the pumps not working because when you take the valves out you are going to put them back in a different position from what they were in or you are going to put a different valve in a different seat than it came out of. Either way you are potentially goint to cause a leaking valve because it may not seat properly in a seat that it didn't come out of because of the differneces in the wear patterns of the different valves and seats.

"If it ain't broke don't fix it!"

Zane, Thanks for the reply...kinda figured that could be the problem, I know I got the two from each side back in the correct side, but as far as which was in which hole, I don't know as someone moved things around on the bench while they were apart. So what is the answer? All new valves and seats? Thanks, Pete

centaur...I suppose it could be the oil, I used GL-1 mineral oil 80w, as it was all i could at the moment, I usually use the same stuff, only 80-90. We did heat it up good, and the jerking did not change.
