We're all told constantly, that everything that is newer and more complicated is automatically better and cannot possibly fail to do a better job.Thus, your old analog cell phone, that got a little noisy occasionally but rarely dropped a call, has been replaced by a completely digital one that drops calls all the time when the network is busy. It's also why the inexpensive, non-toxic, dependable light bulb is being replaced by an expensive and temperamental device full of mercury vapor that you will have to carry to a toxic waste disposal site to throw away (and pay for the privilege). And, finally, thus the COMPLETE failure of most computerized communications systems used by professional and municipal organizations after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, in spite of the fact that human beings talking into old-fashioned analog short wave radios (all unpaid amateur volunteers, by the way, which INFURIATED the bureaucratic side of said organizations) continued to communicate just fine. I'll stick with points, thank you.
