You say the 8N carbs are on the right? Sitting on the seat my 1949 8N carb is to the left. So how is left and right determined. I thought it was from sitting on the seat facing forward. Left side was your left and right side was your right. Have I had it wrong all this time?

I can't comment on how YOUR tractor is... but the clutch is on the left. The air cleaner, carb and governor, too, are all on the right side of the tractor... no matter WHERE you look at it from.... from 39 through 52..

I have never seen an N set up to the contrary.

Pooh---You have it right, but..... .I have a 49 8N with the original engine in it. Sitting in the seat the carb IS on the right hand side of the engine. My 51 8N with original engine has the carb on the right side also.

What is the serial # on your engine?----Tim
