The Cummins is the only real diesel out there, the Dodge is just the wrapper it comes in, '97 and up are the best with the good old P7100 injection pump that is used by Mack, Deere, etc.

yeah, but if you wrapped the tastiest morsel in the world in used toilet paper, would it still be as tasty?

I will admit I havent ridden in the newest model Dodge, but have ridden in numerous 2-3 yo ones, felt like I had been whooped after 100 miles and was half deaf from the noise. I have noticed the newer ones are a lot quieter.

( my judgement may be a little clouded, they should be building my 6.0 PSD this week)

The noise is what makes a Diesel a Diesel. The best truck would be a Ford with Chevy's trannie (the Allison) and the Dodge's engine (the Cummins). The Allison has class because it has an oil filter on it. Lots of people do put Cummins's in Fords, that makes them decent trucks, then. Ford says it all as they offer the Cummins in the F650 trucks. Anyway, congrats on the new truck order. I have to admit that the 6.0 PS's are quick.

One of the reasons I ordered the diesel, is cause I love the sound, but man, some of the 4-5 yo cummins's sound like a school bus.

also ordered it for the mileage and the pulling power. I am a field agronomist and cover 45,000 miles a year, so mileage is very important and when I need power for hauling, I need power.

I agree on the frankentruck you describe, to bad noone makes it for us..... course then there'd be no brand arguments;-)
