the j serries d2 and r2 are really the same tractor except the engine, bell houseing and fuel tank.the bell houseing and contents are longer and heavier for the diesel.the engine block is the same for both.the rest of the tractor is identical. this makes the d2 a few inches longer. the fuel tank on the spark ignition tractor is where the pony motor goes on the diesel. the j series was the last of the small gas cats, not too many were made and close to half went to england under lend/lease. the d2 came in later more powerfull series and thousands and thousands were made......my r2 has a factory crank out the back and a front hydraulic pump..i would love to find a ring gear.[not the same as d2].. this is worse than mean to crank in cold weather,the heavy crank castings are always bent.the gas engine really runs smooth. anyone got a ring gear and starter?
