Farmall C rear axle seals

I have the wheels off my C to replace the rear axle seals. When I took the seal holder off, got some water out. No transmission oil is coming out, even though the level is full on the trans. The lubricant on the axle bearings looks like grease plus water mixture. I've cleaned all that out. I heard somewhere that the C has two axle seals, one at the trans and one at the axle end. Is that true?? If so, I guess the only lube for outboard bearing is grease from the fitting there since the inboard seal would keep the transmission fluid from getting to the outboard bearing. I presume the water got in there through the fitting opening. When I got the tractor, there were no grease fittings in the seal holders.
