Cub front tires

I've got a '48 Cub that needs new front tires. I'm not interested in "originality" as much as overall performance. With that in mind (and assuming the "old style" tires that Miller Tire still sell have nothing to offer save looks), Firestone has both a 4.00-12 Champion Guide Grip 3-Rib and a 5.00-12 Guide Grip 3-Rib tire. Which one should I get? Now I'm not married to the Firestone brand. If someone knows of something better, please sing out. Last question, I've got weights on my rears and plan on filling them with fluid. What is the general consensus on front weights and/or fluid in the front tires as well?
