I had the same question about Lag Angle for my B. Here is what I concluded - not sure if it is right. I think it is the lag or retard on the spark when hand cranking and using the impulse trip mechanism in the magneto. The spark is retarded to prevent kick back. When the engine starts the trip mechanism disengages because the rpms are high enough to create a good magnetic field and a hot spark. So on my B I set the trip point at TDC, but when the engine starts the spark advances to whatever the lag angle is (say 35 degrees BTDC). I don't think changing the points and condenser will change this as long as the points gap is correct.
