I just learned that early Farmall H models had 36" rear wheels. I was used to later '40s H tractors with 38" rear wheels. An experienced farmer, at the auction, told me that 1939 - 1941,2,3,or4 year production came with 36". The one I bought at this auction did have 36" wheels! Also, it has hole in hood for gasoline tank filler; but, exhaust manifold is a gasoline type. The metal bar that swings over to link both brake peddles is straight - no bulge on top of link bar as I've seen on other H's. Yet, the bar looks like IHC part. The farmer also told me that the front steering piller had some kind of marking (viewed from the front, looking between the wheels)that identified this cast part as an H part. Mine didn't have the number he was looking for, so he said this steering piller was probably off an M. This H also has the old original style PTO - with small diameter splined shaft; first time I've seen this also. I thought all H's had the standard 1 3/8" 550 rpm size shaft. Gee just when you think you'er smart, ya gota go n learn new stuff
