Dad had a '39 that was the first tractor I mowed & raked hay with. The 7/8 gal. gasoline starting tank carried on up into the Super series tractors on kerosene engined tractors. I remember the '39 had the rectangular brake pedal latch too. If they have elec. starting the starter switch is mounted differently. The old '39 had 6-spoke cast center wheels with 10 x 38 rubber. Those could have been added later. I think the variable tread width on the narrow frt end was a later option too, about '47. The transmission top cover was different on the 39's also, as was the seat. Guy Fay's book on the letter series pretty well explains all the differences.
