Cub Final drive bull gear and Axel shaft removal

In order to stop leaking on the final drive of my '53 Cub, I have removed the final drive and found the problem. First the oil seal around the bearing retainer was inserted improperly, with that fixed I am trying to stop leaking around the axel shaft on the hub side. I can't get the axel shaft out. How do you remove this. I removed the cotter pin and shaft nut, but I cannot get the Axel shaft to come out of the bull gear and housing. Is there anything else holding it, or is it mearly pressed in there? Help.
