I cracked the transmission housing on my H a few years ago from ice in it. The crack was where the bottom curves up to the right side. It was a 6 inch crack. I tried JB Weld and it would hold for about a year, then start to leak. I finally called a professional welder and he did a real nice job of fixing it. I had him do a couple of other minor jobs when he was here and the whole thing cost me $60. A good welder can fix it but not all good welders can weld cast iron. Make sure if you get someone they know about cast.
