Sorry to belabor the point, but for all practical purposes, friction is directly dependent on the nature of clean dry materials in contact and the TOTAL pressure on them and is independent of area. Given enough pressure, the 4" disk could indeed transfer the power...up to the limit of material strength. Service life, however might be very short. Have you formed your opinion from your understanding of engineering principles or are you just guessing? George Willer
