Jack the front of tractor up so weight of bolster and wheels are hanging from top steering gear.Loosen top nut after taking cotter key out so that the top of nut is flush with top of shaft.Place a heavy brass punch on top of shaft and give it a heavy blow with a large hammer, usually only one or two blows is all that is necessary. The shaft is a wedge spline fit and will pop loose all at once. The shaft will have to come most of the way out as the seal is under the top bushing.I find it easier to remove the tricycle post and wheel assm. first then you won't have to jack the tractor so high. The seal is installed with the lip facing up.
