Looking for some assistance on the operation of a 6 volt generator system on a '59 140. I am familiar with the operation of a 12 volt GM system and have rebuilt alternators and starters before but really don't know where to start with this 6 volt stuff. When I first found it would not start, I put the battery to charging and cleaned the battery connections while it was charging. Reassembled everything and it fired right up. Checked the battery voltage ith the tractor off (6.24 volts) and with it running (6.35 volts) and found it to be charging a little. Thought I had fixed the problem and took it out to do some mowing and soon was sitting in the middle of the field with only 3.64 volts???? I was going to pull off the generator and have the local alternator shop check it for me but they are working banker hours (no offense to any bankers) and I haven't been able to catch them all week. Now the weekend is here and my toy is just sitting their looking sick :-( Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot a Delco-Remy generator (1100042 9d 2) with two wires labeled A ; F? Also any tips on how to check a regulator? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

We arrived hoping to meet up with a man we knew had over one
