Just under your heel of left foot when resting on clutch is tranny deck cast-code.Two sets of numbers followed with a Letter. The letter is code for the year. S is '49, T is '50 etc. (R1 is not a year) Always big debate on oil. Straight #30 is good choice if engine is a bit loose and is worked or it has low oil pressure. Changing all fluids is great way to start. Yes on positive ground as were many things back then. Glad you said your getting manuals. What do you plan on using it for?
